LEEP Program
“Leisure Experiences for Exceptional People”
LEEP is an after-school leisure activities program for high school students from CMCSSSD. It was created to provide our high school students an opportunity to increase their personal-social development while providing them the tools to help transition to leisure activities in their community.
- LEEP meets twice a month from October- June.
- One activity per month is school-based with recreational activities such as hands-on crafts, cooking, games, art, dances, and gym activities. These activities are over at 4:30 PM.
- Students from Cape May Technical School Key Club join us as “peer mentors” to promote social skills.
- One special activity per month which may include Dances, bowling, movies, mini-golf, whale watcher cruise, assorted community outings. These activities include bus transportation to the event.
- Bus Transportation home is available to students that live in Cape May Court House or locations south of Cape May Court House.
- Families are encouraged to provide transportation home from school and community events if they are able.
The LEEP program is designed for students that are participating successfully in group instruction in their class with minimal supports needed. Students that join LEEP should be interested in staying for a longer day at school and cooperate with LEEP staff to follow rules and guidelines.
Group size is limited for the safety of all involved. Students must be nominated by their case manager and appropriateness determined by the team.
